2016 LA State Scholastic Team and Individual Chess Championship

Saturday, April 23

Hosted by T.S. Cooley Elementary Magnet School and
F.K. White Middle School 1000 E. McNeese Street Lake Charles (location)

Time: 8:00 – 9:00 check-in and onsite registration
Format: 4 rounds: G/45; Byes (1/2 point available for any round - only 1 bye allowed) You must request a bye with the tournament director PRIOR to the beginning of Round 2.
Sections: Team and Individual All Sections Rated K – 2, K – 4, K – 6, K – 8, K - 12
Team Info: Minimum of 3 players from the same school or home-school district to make a team in each section. The top 3 scores from each team section counts as the final team score.
Awards: Trophies to top 10 individuals and top 3 teams in each section. There will be head to head playoffs for perfect scores in each section. The winner of the K-12 section will be the official 2016 Louisiana representative to the national Arnold Denker Tournament of High School Champions.
Award Ceremony: after last round, medals for all non-trophy winners
USCF Info: A current USCF membership is required for all players and may be purchased onsite. For membership information go to www.uschess.org.
Concessions: Breakfast and lunch/snack items will be available for purchase onsite, including chicken and sausage gumbo and pizza.

Entry Fee: $ 25.00 pre-registration must be received by Friday, April 15
                $ 40.00 if received after April 15 and onsite registration fee
