Rose Koochekpour of  Metairie Academy duplicates last year's feat by winning the K6 Louisiana 2009 all girls tournament 4-0! In 2008, Rose won the event which hosted 40 participants with a score of 5-0. Rose is a fierce competitor and many scholastic players have felt the brunt of her solid and formidable play. Rose is a delightful young talent and shows a preference for tactical middlegame play. Rose has claimed the scalps of no less than three of my personal chess students and is always cordial throughout the contest. Rose loves the game and I have often observed her watching me explain positions to other students. I have admired her attention to detail during my analysis of student's games. Rose focus and attention was often more intense than that of the student I was instructing! Expect a spotlight and game analysis from me on this rising star very soon. I hope to furnish a picture and short interview with Rose and K-12 champ, Cecilia Tisserand during the scholastic tourney this weekend. The Louisiana Chess Scholastic league salutes Rose Koochekpour. "You go girl!"
