2008 Louisiana State Championship and Kickoff Scholastic - November 28-30 (Kickoff Scholastic November 29th)

Dear Chess Players,

As most of you know by now, the 2008 Louisiana State Championship and Kickoff Scholastic,
scheduled for Labor Day Weekend, had to be canceled and rescheduled due to Hurricane Gustav.
We have now rescheduled the State Championship for November 28-30, and the Kickoff Scholastic
for November 29th. Flyers for both events are attached to this e-mail. I know this is Thanksgiving
Weekend (Fri.-Sun), but unfortunately, that was the only weekend that worked for the tournament due
to scheduling restrictions and Chess Life deadlines. I know that this may prevent some of you from
attending; I hope we don't have to to reschedule the tournament from Labor Day weekend in any more
upcoming years. On the positive side, the tournament will remain a 3-day/7 round open tournament
and given the new schedule, scholastic players who wish to play in both tournaments can now do so
with only one half-point bye in the State Championship. Additionally, the LCA business meeting will
now be held immediately following the conclusion of the scholastic tournament allowing more interested
people to attend.

Thank you for your patience with this matter. I hope to see all of you in November!
Sincerely,

Adam S. Caveney
President
